EMU SP-12 Drum Machine Sampler, Sample & Loop CDs (too many to mention). I guess I'm just trying to make myself and anyone in my situation (recently unknowingly bought a discontinued model) feel better. A more comparable Roland XV module would be the XV-3080, which would be my choice over the 5050. The 5080 has the same native ROM but twice the polyphony, more flexible effects, both old and new expansion slots, and the ability to import samples. The 16 performance buttons make switching between parts on the module instantaneous.ĥ. I think you can get them for around 350 or maybe less.

The older JV/XP/XV synths' interface is more streamlined than the Fantom series, IMO, requiring fewer button pushes and data wheel turns to achieve the same result.Ĥ.
ROLAND XV 5080 SAMPLERS SOFTWARE
The second MIDI IN input on the 5080 sort of functions as a USB port in terms of being able to edit with the software and sequence at the same time.ģ. If any editing needs to be done on the unit itself (rather than on PC), the larger display on the 5080 will likely be more convenient than the X-R's.Ģ. There are a few ways in which I believe the 5080 suits me better than the X-R:ġ. The Roland XV-5080 is one of Rolands biggest flagships synths, featuring 1083 base waveforms built in, a built-in sampler, COSM sound modelling module, 4xSRX and 4xSR-JV80 slots.

ROLAND XV 5080 SAMPLERS FULL
We’re basically looking for a unit that has great sounds for anything from ambient and electronica to full scale orchestra (mainly film scores). I saw these posten on the Roland XV forums, breaks it down nicely:Įffects: 3xMFX 78 Type -vs- 3xMFX 90 TypeĮffects: Reverb/Chorus -vs- Reverb/Chorus We are in the market for a new Sound Module, and we’re currently looking at the Korg Triton Rack and the Roland XV-5080. Αt first I would like to use some wav files for playback (make a preset out of a wav and assign a note to play it) from the hdd and not the cd-rom and also I would like to "copy" some AKAI presets (via XV-5080) from the AKAI CDs to the hard drive so I can improve load times, creating my own library and not having to carry lot of CDs with samples. The XV-5080 has full sampling too. XV-5080, cd-rom and hard disk are in the same scsi chain (each one has a different ID number off course) and I can access either the cd-rom's partitions via the XV-5080, either the hard disk's partitions just through navigating via XV-5080's scsi-options-menu. The sound engines (synth and effects) are the same, as I know. 5080 can load and play samples in Roland S-700 and Akai S-1000 formats, it has 128 voices and a bigger screen.

wav to a CD (CD-RW are not accessible via my cd-rom, what a pity) and then access it through XV-5080, but I couldn't pass the audio file to the hdd (using XV-5080) or make a patch assigning the wav as a playback of a certain note (any key press). I would avoid the 5050 as it has 64 voices and no sample playback abilities, unless you get it for real cheap and money is important for you. The only thing I could figure out is to write a.
ROLAND XV 5080 SAMPLERS MANUAL
I've read the manual and some websites trying to load my personal audios. I've used the pci-scsi adapter just to format the hard disk, nothing more. I've done some tests and everything is working, I can see all hard disk's partitions through the pc or the XV-5080 and I can load original AKAI CD samples from the external cd-rom. I also fulled out the XV-5080's RAM to 128mb (2 x 64mb) and I bought an 128mb SmartMedia. I've recently bought some external gear for using my XV-5080 as a sample player:Ī pci-scsi adapter for my desktop pc, an external scsi cd-rom, an external scsi hard drive and all necessery cables to make all equipment work/communicate.
